For the Red & the Blue

Founded in 1899, the Friars Senior Society recognizes seniors who have made a significant contribution to the University of Pennsylvania in all areas of campus life.

Lifelong Community

Over 2,100 Friar Senior Society alumni live in the United States
and in over 20 other countries throughout the world.

Giving Back

Community Service and Friars go hand in hand. They’ve raised over $25,000 with their fall Friarside Coffeehouse over the years and have held bake sales, cooked meals for those who can’t and participated in a variety of other service events each spring as well.

#friarshavemorefun

Supporting each other at games, shows, social nights, as well as at Penn and their own creative events during their Friar year makes all the difference!

120 Years of Friars and Counting

Proud to be heralded as the oldest and most active senior society at Penn over the decades.

Once A Friar, Always a Friar

Your Friars experience doesn’t end when you graduate,
it is a lifelong adventure of fun and adventures!

Leadership

We bring together top leaders from the Penn community who might not have otherwise crossed paths to further the spirit of our founder, Daniel S. Keller. They meet, plan, and attend a variety of social and community events throughout their senior year.

Service

Each year Friars raise thousands of dollars for charity. Whether we’re organizing an event for elementary students or a fundraiser for victims of a sudden natural disaster, we support the wider community just as much as we support each other.

Diversity

Each Friar class is completely different from the previous one. We are a diverse bunch of scholars, artists, athletes, and campus leaders from all corners of Penn. Anyone who has contributed to the Penn community embodies the Friar spirit.
