Giving Back

Ph Community Service is part of our creed, “it is not what you are going to get out of life, but what you are going to give to life.”  From  walks for AIDS and MS, bake sales for ALS or “cookies for a cause” for victims of Nepal, cleaning up Philadelphia  parks or our well-known Friarside Coffeehouse in November and making meals for those battling life-threatening illnesses with MANNA in the Spring, Friars is only happy to do for others.  Charitable causes in recent years have included I’m Free, Homebound Initiative, The Philadelphia Education Fund and Philabundance and organizations fighting racial inequality and social injustice. Flip through these dozen photos to get a glimpse of why this is such an important part of our Friar year.

The Friarside Coffeehouse is such a great event because it has helped raise awareness for some great causes over the years, and it gets to highlight and support Penn performing arts as well. I was honored to be able to run it my year and present a check for $2,100 to the Philadelphia Education Fund.
